Mark Steinmetz "Summertime" (Nazraeli) Daido Black Ink マーク・スタインマッツ （スタインメッツ）

今注目を集めるアメリカ ジョージア州を拠点とする写真家、Mark Steinmetz の六冊目の写真集が11月に。80年代後半から90年代(1984 ～ 1991)に撮影した子供や若者の写真が収録されるのだそう。印刷は過去にマイケルケンナの写真集の印刷で使われたという “Daido Black”インクで印刷とのこと。

The one of the highly acclaimed photographers, Mark Steinmetz, his sixth photobook is to be published from Nazraeli in November. 1000 copies limited. I haven't even heard about the name of the ink called "Daido Black" which was used for the Michael Kenna's book printing before, this "Summertime" book is to be printed with "Daido Black" ink. "Daido" is that "Daido" of Shinjyuku, I don't think he's started to sell ink.

 前作までが静かに荒んだアトランタを中心に撮影されたスナップショットであったのに対して、この写真集は1984-91年にかけて撮った写真の中で子供の写っているものを集めたもの。子供の写真とはなにか無邪気でかわいいものかとあまり期待しないでいたが、実際写真集に収録された作品を見ると、それらはそのどちらでもない不安と懐かしさと奇妙さの混ざった見飽きない写真。

Nazraeli の写真集3部作から火がついて、あっという間にMoMAにも収蔵されとても注目されている写真家です。さっそく予約だけで10月15日の週に photo-eye bookstoreで一位になっています。
Amazonでの扱いはなく、国内では下記のような通販の書店での扱い。1000部限定。過去の写真集すべて絶版。
